Camera Registry

"A picture is worth a thousand words"

Video surveillance photos are one of the best methods for apprehending criminals and convicting suspects who commit crimes. The SARPD is asking for YOUR help in combating crime in our community with our new Camera Registry Program. This program connects the police and citizens in a proactive partnership to keep our Boroughs and Township safe!

Residents and Business owners voluntarily register the locations of their video surveillance systems, home cameras, ring doorbells etc., with the SARPD. This allows police to quickly and easily identify the locations of cameras and enlist the assistance of the community to help obtain possible video evidence when a crime is committed in their area.

Many times, residents and business owners are not aware that their surveillance systems may have captured information that could prove vital in a police investigation. By registering your camera with us, the SARPD will be able to quickly and easily use the camera registry to locate possible cameras in the area of a crime, and contact participants to check their cameras for a specific date and time for video capturing a suspect, vehicle or crime in progress. If the participant finds video evidence, then SARPD will make arrangements to retrieve the video at the convenience of the owner.

Important to Note:

  • This is a voluntary program.
  • We do NOT and are NOT asking for direct access to anyone camera's or surveillance systems
  • There is no requirement to provide or share video and you can decline to do so if asked.
  • All information provided in the camera registry is CONFIDENTAL. We will not share any information about camera locations or operations outside of law enforcement.

In an age of rapidly evolving technology, we ALL need to partner together to make use of all the available technology in homes and businesses, to keep our streets, homes and community SAFE! Making use of the resources many of you already maintain for yourselves can benefit everyone!

ONE TEAM. ONE COMMUNITY. ONE GOAL.
