This is car seat safety week and today is about car crashes and damaged seats. Should you be involved in a crash, depending on the severity you should have your car seat replaced, as the integrity of the seat may be compromised. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendation on the replacing the car seat. Should your child's car seat need to be replaced, check with your insurance company as they may cover part or all of the cost under your vehicle insurance.
Sometimes damage to car seats occur without being involved in a car crash. If there are any cracks, warping, torn or frayed harness straps, or there are missing labels or parts you should replace that car seat so that it is safe to use.
If you would like to schedule an appointment to have your child's car seat checked by a certified technician, please contact Tracy Fox at 570-421-6800 Ext. 1094 or email her at tfox@sarpd.com. This service is offered for free by the Stroud Area Regional Police Department.
