The Pocono Township Police Department's Drone Program has been up and flying for over two months now. Thanks to our generous donors and being awarded the Tourism Impact Grant from the Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau, we were able to procure three drones capable of various tasks, as well as the required training for seven officers to become FAA certified UAS pilots. During this short time, the drones have been deployed to assist in search and rescue efforts, tracking of fleeing suspects, and utilized during various overwatch operations. The use of these drones makes our officers' job a little bit safer, while providing a better and more efficient service to the citizens, visitors, and businesses of Pocono Township.
We would like to personally thank the following people for their donations, and who are responsible for bringing this all to fruition.
-Chris Barrett, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau
-Rakesh Vakkar and Joseph Gilliland, Sanofi Pasteur
-Commissioner Brian Winot
-The Vincent Trapasso Family
-Northeast PA Police Assocation (thank you Angela Rasely)
