On March 17, 2023 at 0002 hours, a Pocono Township Police Department Officer was on patrol in the area of Route 611 South in Scotrun.  The patrol officer's patrol unit's license plate reader indicated that a passing white 2016 Acura ILX possessed an expired and suspended registration.  The officer turned around and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in the area of Route 611 and Discovery Dr.  The officer approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver and vehicle owner, Jahni A Taylor, who was found to have a suspended PA driver's license. 

While speaking with Taylor, the officer observed partially smoked marijuana cigars in plain view and detected and odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. 

Upon further investigation, consent to search the vehicle was requested by the officer and granted by Taylor.  A search of the vehicle was conducted and over an ounce of marijuana was located in the vehicle.

Charges for possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and several traffic offenses were later filed against Taylor.
