On December 12, 2023, Pocono Township Police Department responded to Brookdale Recovery Center for an assault.  Upon arrival police contacted staff who advised that while in route to the facility a new patient identified as Benjamin L Kurtz a 40-year-old male from Caldwell NJ, was attempting to fight with the van driver, a 70-year-old male.  When the van arrived at the facility Kurtz exited the van and attempted to fight the driver, at which time he placed him in a choke hold in front of multiple witnesses.  Kurtz was highly intoxicated and aggressive with staff and police, he was subsequently arrested and taken to Monroe County Correctional Facility.  Charges pending.
