On September 6, 2022 Pocono Township Police Department  responded to Sheetz concerning a male who was attempting to deceive patrons with fake jewelry.  The suspect identified as Marius Alesandru from Romania was advising customers he was out of gas and needed assistance.  Alesandru then would attempt to sell what he would present as authentic jewelry, which in fact was fraudulent.  Officers were advised by one victim that Alesandru just sold him jewelry, which he advised was authentic gold worth $6,000, however was fraudulent.  Alesandru was found to have $4,310 in US currency inside his vehicle and more fraudulent jewelry.  Alesandru was taken into custody and transported to Monroe County Correctional Facility on theft by deception charges.
